Street Wise

I wanted to use the word "street wise" to describe a person who is alert and knows what is happening around him. I searched Google images, and found many images that shows "street wise" to reflect a person who is alert and able to avoid crimes around bad neighborhood. It seems that "street wise" means to know which streets are safe and which are dangerous.

Perhaps another possibility may be "street smart"

Cheers.

Being streetwise or street-smart is the hallmark of the beginning entrepreneur. These people know how the world works instinctively and are typical of the rags to riches stories.

People holding high posts based on paper qualifications alone (or influence), on the other hand, can only function on the back of a competent support structure that pre-digests all solutions for a final decision. Usually, any one option can work, the difference being a matter of the degree. They perform mainly as jagas (caretakers). Thrown onto the streets, they are lunch for the streetwise and street-smart.
