Inflation rate, measured by Reader's Digest

A copy of Reader's Digest cost $1 during the 1950s. Fifty years later, it cost $9.50 (in 2005). The rate of inflation during this period is 8.1% per annum.

...also the size of the copy. It is slightly smaller now as compared with a few years ago.

I prefer RD contents and layout of the pre 90s which has better look and feel. Sometimes change for the sake of change may not be better. This is but a presonal opinion.

I personally don't feel that RD is worth its price.

Especially if you subscribe, you will receive letters that mentions that win some cars or cash prizes if you send back some replies using their return envelope and the cycle keep repeating. At the end of the day, you may wondered how come the lucky draw never ends after so many years.

Between there will be the option of buying their book titles to increase lucky draws chances.

Such marketing practices is a waste of paper and really not environmentally friendly.

i love reader digest! i collect them. couldn't afford them, so i bought those backdated copies a year later at bras basah. :)
