Moving towards the endemic phase

MTF (aka WTF) relied on a high vaccination rate to enter into the endemic phase.

Other countries did also, e.g. Israel and Australia. But SG seemed to have got it worse than the other countries.

Here are some data:

Deaths during the past 7 days per million of population
Singapore - 15
Israel - 5
Australia - 4

There is something wrong with the way SG approaches it.

Who can beat Tesla in the EV market?

I realized a profit of more than $500,000 in my investment in Tesla over the past 30 months.
I have often been asked the questions:
a) Will NIO, Li Auto, XPeng, BYD or Lucid be as successful as Tesla
b) Will the legacy auto manufacturers, e.g. Toyota, Ford, GM, VW give a challenge to Tesla when they move into the EV (electric vehicle) market?
I will give my views.

My investment in Tesla - 29 Oct 2021

I started investing in Tesla in July 2019. I made a profit of $50,000 SGD for the first 6 months. I told my story in this e-book. It can be downloaded free.

Over the next two years, I probably realized a total profit of over $300,000 SGD on my investing in Tesla. My trading activities over the period of two years can be viewed in several posts in this website. Link.

Today, I will give an update of my adventure over the past month.

Here are my views.

Continue the investment linked policy?

20 years ago, I bought a whole life investment linked policy for my daughter. The agent said it was best time to buy insurance when you are young as its cheaper.
However, from the 2021 benefit illustration which I recently requested, I found this statement to be false for the following reasons:

My reply here.

WOTC - Is China acting aggressively

My analysis of semiconductor stocks

I read a news article that the shortage of semiconductors will great good growth opportunity for the industry over the next two years.

It covered several American semiconductor stocks. I added a few Asian stocks to this list, namely SMIC, Samsung, TSMC.

Analysis of China tech stocks

Many technology stocks in China have dropped by about 50% during the past few months, after China took action to control the monopolistic practices and power of these company.

I have been asked this question - with the drop in price, is it attractive to invest in these stocks now? I give my view here.

Freedom and the abuse of freedom

Many people consider "freedom" to be an important right for the people in a country.

I agree with this view, but to a certain extent only.

Rooster Coop

In the book - The White Tiger - the author describes the "Rooster Coop".

The roosters are kept in the coop and wait to be slaughtered for food. They are slaughtered one at a time, when a customer wants to buy a rooster.

The roosters watch other roosters being slaughtered and know that they turn will come.

They accept their fate. They do not fight to escape from the coop.

This is the life of the poor people in a country. The poor people accept the job of servants at low wages and miserable living conditions, but they remain honest and loyal to their masters.

While the author describe the condition of the poor in India, the same conditions apply to other countries.

The rich people own the land and collect a big portion of the meager earnings of the poor villagers. They employ thugs to intimidate and control the tenants.
