North South Expressway

I wrote this letter to the Straits Times to suggest how the $7-8 billion for the North South Expressway could be better spent. The ST did not publish my letter. http://tankinlian.com/admin/file.aspx?id=382

Good letter. I didnt know it was so much to build the N-S expressway.

Yes, i agree with you. there are a lot of better ways to spend this amount of money.

Dear Mr Tan,

ST will most likely not publish your letter, I myself had written to them on numerous occasion and never got a chance to see my article in their paper.

After sometime, I noticed that those articles which they published in their forum page are from a handful of familiar names only. (Food for thought)

Thereafter, I decided not to buy their newspaper and switched to reading news from the internet which are more current and from international sources.

Further to para 2 above, I came to know of Temasek Review (TR) website which has many interesting unbiased articles and anyone could just write in their forum pages and get almost instant approval for publication.

That gave us a source to air our opinion about policies, voice our discontent, praise good deeds, practice our writing skills, etc, etc.

As many have expressed, the decision to spend that S$7 to 8 Billions have nothing to do with "easing" the congestion, Or was there a think-through of the problem. Like Mr Tan wrote, what about the end of the journey. Where to park ?
Piecemeal solutions from "world-class" Civil Servants ? That was not so, ages ago, man !

I suppose it's more about pumping $8b into the economy to benefit the local economy as an infrastructure project.
