Difficulty in contacting M of Manpower

I login to the MOM website (WP Online) to check for my firm's quota to employ work permit holders. It was quite difficult to understand the mess of information. I had to call the call center. I searched the website of MOM and even tried the "search" field. I could not find it. I know that there is a call center - as I called them before, but I don't understand why MOM made it difficult for the public to reach their call center.

They make it difficult for the public to reach their call center because they hope that we will give up and won't call them. Afterall, we are not their customers - we are merely irritants that get in the way of their actual work (whatever that is).

Mr. Tan, you should try to employ Singaporeans rather than so many work ermit holders.

To Walau
Yes, I try to employ Singaporeans first. But for the WP case, there is a special reason.

I have advertised in Job Central for local developers - salary range of $2,500 to $3,500 and no response for 2 weeks. If I open to foreigners, I get many response for salary of $2,500 (or even lower).

You can go to this link to check for WP & S-pass entitlement for different industries. There is also a Quota Calculator for S-Pass entitlement.

Looking at the salary level, you may be looking at "Employment Pass" rather than WP or S-pass.

Go to this link for P1, P2 or Q1.

Dear Mr. Tan,
For jobs over 2500, job central is the wrong channel as very few graduates will look for jobs there. I think you need to advertise in the Recruitment pages for professional.

Secondly, the relentless influx of FT is depressing the local wages of professional to earn a decent wages to support his family in the high cost of living environment. As a activist on social justice, you should not follow the current trend of getting cheap FT.

My 2 cents worth.

dear Sir,

is it ok if you advertise the job requirements again for the developer job?

what is the turnaround time you will hope for a new developer to pick up the skills?

thank you
