This is the Singapore Flag displayed at my gate. I walked around the estate this morning, and found the flag being displayed in less than 1 house in 10. It seemed that many Singaporeans are too busy and do not share in the National Day festivity any more.

Your neighbours maybe FTs who don't care about it. What loyalty? Soon they go back or to US when they make enough money from Sg.
With so much unhappiness on ground level, most people do not have the mood to celebrate. Those flags that one sees in HDBs, who puts them up. Most people knows the answer.
G still have the mindset that they knows best and refuse to admit their mistakes and reverse screwed policies. It's in their DNA to always think that unpopular decisions/policies are the right ones when it has been proven otherwise. Whats wrong with admitting one's mistakes. Egos, lost of face, political votes??
Sporeans must come to their senses that in any good organisation/country, it is imperative to have transparency, check & balances. Without it, the results are obvious.
Another thing, no point going through the motion of asking for public feedbacks when the decisions are more or less decided. Going through this exercise will only generate even more resentment when the final decision is to the contrary.
These are my humble thoughts.
What is there to hang when there is nothing more to defend? Last time we were told to defend vital installations like power stations with our lives but now they have been sold to foreign owners so we have wasted our youth & time training in the saf
My whole block of flats had only 1 flag put up. Flats with lots of flags are put up by foreign labourers presumably hired by town council or RCs.
Dun have to show patriotism to one's country by putting up the flag on National Day. It's in our blood and soul. The Singapore flag is too associated with PAP, it's hypocritical displaying it for display's sake.
Know well in the heart, love for Singapore dun mean love for a Govt.
Dr. Mahathir once said to a YTL executive, he loves Singapore, but not its clinical and soulless Govt. We agree with him, and not displaying the flag in our home dun mean no love and patriotism for Singapore. It's the heart that counts, not ostentatious display for foreigners to see.
Nonetheless, we hope to put up flag one day, but not now.

Yes, Mr. Tan , but we don't want to send the wrong that we agree with them. Sg belongs to the FTs now. Soon they will become the majority and local born will become marginalised in every area of our lives.Why show fake loyaty? it is hoppopopo-crates of rotten apples.
I wonder how PAP Govt felt if our laws allow foreigners to take over their place and they can downgrade to MP or wash dishes & clean tables at hawker centre.
We may be shooting our own foot, but this is one opportunity to " protest'
The Gov is run by the ruling party, the PAP and they are intrinsically associated with the state flag.
It is an opportunity every year to protest against them by not displaying it. They can command all the other Gov bodies like the HDB, Town councils to display them.
Yet, it does not mean we have given up on our island. I am a Singaporean by birth, served my NS and my 2 sons are going through their NS now.
I have no where else to go neither would I want to.
The National Day celebration is a PAP event with PAP faces all over it. From the President to the Parade commander.
When we have the opposition in control of Parliament, that will be our true National Day.
Someone said that it is better to display the flag in front of the gate, rather than behind. So, I have now moved the flag to the front. A new photo will replace it soon.
