If GST no increases, how can we remain a strong influence in the world Singapore is a rich country?

If GST no increases, there would be no 100 *BILLION* to keep businesses afloat? The money has given riches to some to afford the high COES and million-dollar HDBS? Rich country? Do not be deceived into thinking otherwise.

Given the nature that people are constantly told to spend within their means- ruling in place for not over-leveraging on loans, public funds lacked constraints?

It is hard to understand what is the role of the government- to spend wisely, not possible to save everybody who is thought to be drowning, as they can only so many be life jackets. People need to take some responsibility for the life decisions they make. The first priority is to save the starving, sickly and homeless.

Started off with 3% going to 9% in less than 20 years. The 9% will not stop here if we have poor managing directors. Make no mistake about it.

Whoever trying to instil a cashless society ought to be shut.

Since the OCBC scam scandal, I have received SMS from my bank not to call back any number if received as they do not send out any messages for call back.
I then received an SMS from the same bank to call a certain number, as there was a suspicious transaction on my card.
When I tried making a payment using my card, it was declined. I then realised that the message sent could be true. Luckily, I had cash with me. Cashier's answer was they do not accept cash, they were told to go about cashless. The purchase was cancelled.
Not knowing what to do, I physically went to the nearest branch of the bank. At the bank,
the staff behind the counter tried calling the card department, after 5 minutes of pressing and navigating the pressing numbers with my phone. 15 minutes after, finally, a human answered( mind it was lunch-time, so staff shortage?)
In the meantime, my card remains cancelled.
A new card will be issued to me with a new pin.
The bank will take 90 days to investigate, and if I did not make the suspicious transaction, the amount will be credited back to my card. Phew!
I am experiencing symptoms of mystery as the card never even left my wallet.

Materialistic Country.

They are materialistic because it could be they were once poor so they only define success on external attributes as what a person has.

Only expensive branded stuffs and money make them happy. When they do things for others, they do it for reasons and think about what they can get in return. If they don't, they are unlikely to help others.

They think that being a materialist makes you a better person, get good jobs, make good friends, and life is ideal. ( Sorry, not referring to PMS wife HO)

Materialistic people don't study for knowledge, they do it for snob value.
Working as a doctor only because of money and prestige. They only do it for money, not in the interests of the patients. Not all but mostly.

A kinder or a more materialistic society?
