2. Should HDB get away from the Build to Order (BTO system)?

Forty-five years ago, my mother who was uneducated, and my father with only a primary 6 education bought their 3 room for $7800. How they did it is beyond belief. They did not have any kind of payslips. They cannot remember how they bought it because they do not have the money to pay in cash.

Today, you have to go and take a course on how to decouple. All these are called progress!

When my elderly parents bought their first HDB, there was no such thing as grants or CPF usage.
How did they manage?
