Overdraft protection

What is overdraft protection? It is a nice name for fleecing the bank customer.

Frankly, hope I don't sound too harsh but frankly, overdraft or credit card borrowing is trying to buy things or services that one couldn't afford to pay for at the time. I think that we should rethink that kind of culture.

Blame a bank for charging you overdraft fees? I'd readily agree, the banks are too harsh and too profit orientated. However, in Chinese we have a proverb, 追根究底, to trace back to the root of the problem. If there're no people overwriting checks or overdrafting accounts, how can the banks charge those extra overdraft fees?
