WOTC - Look beyond paper qualifications

I asked this question in the Wisdom of the Crowd:

Are employers looking beyond paper qualification to recruit PMETs?

Here are the responses: (39 Votes)
49 % - No. Paper qualifications is still the key factor in both public and private sector.
21 % - I agree. Most employers look for relevant work experience and skills.
18 % - No. The public sector focus more on paper qualifications.
13 % - Yes, this has been the trend.

Acad results & type of qualifications are mostly for younger candidates below 27 or 28 yrs old. Above that they are more interested in track record of capabilities/skills & what you can do to help the company. As well as salary & age. Especially for junior or middle executive jobs, many companies don't want above certain age bands.

Qualifications show that they are able to learn . They also have a good memory to remember what they have learnt. They may also have a high threshold for boredom when learning is not fun or entertaining. But a fallacy to assume that they are smart or able to think out of the box.

Learning should be constant and ongoing,a powerful tool, rather than a one-off exam.

Seems genuine but rather regardless of whether it's actual it doesn't prevent everybody from fostering their own thoughts of excellence.
