Make Trace Together voluntary, not compulsory

The insane ministers insist on killing the economy and businesses. They want to force people to use the Trace Together app or token to visit malls and restaurants.

It may backfire and people will refuse to shop or dine outside.

I support Trace Together, but I will make it voluntary and attractive. I will tell people that they will be compensated adequately, if they have to stay at home after being in contact with an infected person.

And for people who does not want to use TT for contact tracing, I will let them be. I do not wish to force them to use TT.

I believe that my approach - to make it attractive and not compulsory to use TT is better.

I do not agree with the insane ministers. They will kill the economy and the livelihood of the people.

Agree or not?

State owned enterprises

Many people think that state owned enterprises are bad for a country. I suggest that they open their eyes and mindsets and take a good look at the evidence.

Quora: China retaliate against Australia

Quora: Why does Australia not expect China to retaliate in a war they themselves started for no reason other than to please the US?

We are open, forthright, a bit abrasive at times, our sense of humour can be off-key, we are generally sexist, racist, not overly good neighbours, and believe we should be forgiven for all our faults and praised for the little we offer to the world as a nation because we are DIFFERENT, CUTE, EXOTIC, LOVABLE country bumpkins.

The problem is that the world doesn’t really give a crap about us as we are a miniscule cog in a machine made up of fifty billion cogs.

China is retaliating and in a very big way as should have been expected.

A lot of people seem to be suggesting that China was upset by Australia agreeing with the world that China should be ‘investigated’ in regards to the Covid outbreak. But that makes no sense as a host of nations made the same call. Why single out Australia? Australia was singled out because they were parroting American accusations and talking points.

China allowed inspectors from around the world to confirm what occurred in Wuhan however China insisted the the WHO had to be allowed to be a participant, and that the process must NOT be politicised. As soon as those two provisions were agreed by every nation except the US American inspectors were recalled to the US. In the final analysis Americas accusations were proved to be groundless.

End result: Not a Chinese problem!

Our government continues to support the US and the consequences, for Australia and Australians, will be catastrophic I believe.

And after all of this when China refused a shipment of contaminated grain from Australia the Americans sold their grain to China. Is that how allies usually work?

How to replace postal voting in America

The safe distancing measures under the covid-19 pandemic has compelled many states in America to introduce postal voting. This is inefficient and is prone to fraud.

I suggest a better approach.

Insane ministers can be harmful

Insane people are not stupid. But when they hold positions as government ministers, they can cause a lot of harm.

Temper dogma with common sense

Do not be dogmatic. Temper dogma with common sense. Have an open mind.

Second wave of coronavirus

The second wave of the coronavirus around the world will not be serious.

Please tell the insane ministers not to panic and over-react.

Thucydides Trap

The story is a small one. But as China challenges America’s predominance, misunderstandings about each other’s actions and intentions could lead them into a deadly trap first identified by the ancient Greek historian Thucydides. As he explained, “It was the rise of Athens and the fear that this instilled in Sparta that made war inevitable.” The past 500 years have seen 16 cases in which a rising power threatened to displace a ruling one. Twelve of these ended in war.
Of the cases in which war was averted — Spain outstripping Portugal in the late 15th century, the United States overtaking the United Kingdom at the turn of the 20th century, and Germany’s rise in Europe since 1990 — the ascent of the Soviet Union is uniquely instructive today. Despite moments when a violent clash seemed certain, a surge of strategic imagination helped both sides develop ways to compete without a catastrophic conflict. In the end, the Soviet Union imploded and the Cold War ended with a whimper rather than a bang.

Quora: Is it wise from the US to threaten the largest Chinese chipmaker, SMIC?

Allen Allington answered.

Donald Trump choose to use the unethical, unreliable and chicken shit way to handle the USAs falling behind China in a method I call the “Tonya Harding Theory”. Try to break the knee of a competitor instead of trying harder, being smarter and investing more to stay ahead.

That theory is being watched by millions around the world and it makes the USA look like cheaters :-(

No it wasn’t wise. It makes the US look weak and ill prepared for the future.

NOTE: today it was China but it could have been Japan or Germany, Sweden or a few other countries with high tech capacity. What would he have done?

Quora: If China wins the trade war, what will China do to the US?

 Duncan Yum replied:

“If China wins the trade war” means “If China survives the trade war without being forced to make compromising terms akin to Plaza Accord”.

That pretty much summarised China’s bottom line in this mess.

Should that becomes the reality, China, one of the top 3 (by 2018 World Bank figure ) single consumer market as it it, will very likely be in the leadership role of a BRI-based economic bloc, and China’s resilience against US’ assault will give RMB certain “street cred” in making it the alternative to USD as reserve currency, though personally it’d more like people diversify their portfolios.

What’d be “do to the US” in such scenario, could be…

Shanghai or Beijing may become the newest global financial hub (they are not at this time, Hong Kong acts as a buffer zone but what happened in the last 12 months has certainly cast doubts in HK’s usefulness to China);
a Beijing-backed digital currency may become reality, becoming the first in the world;
We could become hearing less of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but how “the Single’s Day smashed yet another record this year” and likely by then it’s getting global.
Americans can feel free to enjoy their isolationism, of course.
