A stallholder in Midview City canteen told me that he will give up the stall on the expiry of the 1 year tenancy. His business is quite good, but he still cannot cope with the expenses.
He lives in Johore and leave homes at 4 am in the morning to come to Singapore on a motor cycle. He leaves Singapore at 6 pm to reach home at 8 pm. He has two children.
He has an assistant which cost him $2,000 in salary and $1,100 in work permit and other cost.
His monthly expenses in rental, utilities, cleaning and assistant is more than $10,000. After working long hours, he nets less than $3,000.
Life is tough for him.
