its been 75 years and the world still has not learned the lesson of 1945. Nuke are a game changer . there is no such thing as a nuclear powered paper tiger.
This is why its so dangerous that the worlds largest insane asylum (North Korea) having nukes is a threat to the world . They are the 105th largest GDP in the world , Jamaica has a larger GDP . Its not the Jamaica's of the world that want them.
Remember its 75 year old tech in the age of the 3D printer. Your cell phone has more computing power than NASA did when they put a man on the moon. There will never be a WW2 style war again but there could be a very bad day that ends up killing billions .

No need nuclear. And depends what type of war. Fighting in China's backyard is totally different from situation if ever China chooses military option to invade central Asia for resources. (Currently China chooses financial option with BRI & debts on the countries.)
The Pentagon themselves have run hundreds of wargames over the years. Almost all the cases, China won in a conventional conflict in Taiwan or SCS. The US military has no illusion about this. But the loses to China will be extremely high & this is the reality that maintains status quo for now.
Most US & China politicians know this. But in front of press and own people need to say the "right" things. Top politicians can't get to their positions without mastering the arts of salesmanship, manipulation & confidence artistry.
